Ebay likes you. Because last year you gave them gross profits of USD 2,656.89m. That is right, just over 2.5 BILLION dollars.

The profit of Ebay Inc before tax, after all their salaries and office costs were USD 1,128.23m. Just over ONE BILLION dollars. WOW! And you paid this to them, whether you are a buyer or a seller.

Because Ebay take about 5% of the price of everthing that is sold on Ebay.

Suppose you are a seller on Ebay and your sales are US $100,000 for one year. And the items are watches that sell for about US $30 each. Let's say you make a 25% gross profit on each sale. Then Ebay are taking one fifth of your gross profit, which is now just 20% of the sale price.

So your profits have shrunk from US $25,000 for the year to US $20,000!

Now compare this to an advert on BuySellFree instead of using Ebay. A free advert costs the seller nothing. And their profits INCREASE. In the example shown on the opposite side, the seller's profit INCREASES by 25% on BuySellFree.
